<p>Thelonious Monk, uno dei più grandi pianisti e compositori jazz, nasce il 10 ottobre 1917 a Rocky Mount, NC e agli esordi viene definito un eccentrico. Negli anni &#8217;40 scrive famosi standard come &#8220;Epistrophy&#8221; e &#8220;Round Midnight&#8221; ed è considerato un genio dai colleghi musicisti. Il suo talento viene riconosciuto universalmente solo nel 1956, con la realizzazione dell&#8217;album &#8220;Brilliant Corners&#8221;, con moderne interpretazioni dei successi di Duke Ellington. Nel &#8217;64 finisce sulla copertina del Time. Prima della morte (&#8217;82), collabora tra gli altri con Dizzie Gillespie, Charlie Parker e John Coltrane.</p>
